These gorgeous Kākahu will make anyone stand out from the crowd. There is so much Mana (prestige) associated with wearing a Kākahu and in ancient times was reserved for those of high status among the tribe. In modern day New Zealand, it's often worn to commemorate big lifetime achievements and are often a huge source of pride for those that own one. Some Kākahu are so significant, they are passed down for generations and are presented at large hui's, celebrations and Tangi's and carry with it the memories and wairua (spirit) of the previous owners. 

Each Kākahu is hand-made in Auckland and the feather pattern covers the entire back and partially covers the inside of the left and right sides of the front so the effect isn't lost when facing it. Each Kakahu also has drawstring ties so you can adjust how it is worn.

The taniko features the Manaia (guardian) and poutama (step pattern) which represents different peoples coming together.
